WHAT:
The Queer Birth Class is a go-at-your-own-pace, comprehensive childbirth education course to help LGBTQ+ families gather the information they need to go into labor feeling prepared, connected, and excited.
Merging 12 years in midwifery and doula work, I am honored to bring a birth preparation course specifically for queer families to my community. This class is informed by my experience becoming a non-gestational parent first and then going on to give birth to our second child, combined with my respect for and knowledge of the birthing process.

WHERE:
The Queer Birth Class is an online course, so you can enjoy it (and implement it) right from where you are!
You will receive all the class content as soon as you sign-up, this way, you can go as fast or slow as you need to (and go back to rewatch as much as you want!).
You will also have access to monthly live group coaching calls to ask questions about the content from that week. These calls are not mandatory but are an opportunity to connect with me directly to clarify anything from the lessons, or to dive deeper if you wish.
WHO:
I created The Queer Birth Class after becoming a parent and helping other queer families prepare for labor and parenthood. This course is designed to help LGBTQ folks feel seen and to be informed as they embark on the vulnerable experience of giving birth.
Anyone in the LGBTQ+ (or Queer) community who is pregnant or partnered to someone who is pregnant: This is for you.
Fiona Schubeck is a doula and certified childbirth educator who helps pregnant families prepare for birth and welcome their babies with confidence and joy.
She has attended over 120 births and worked with over 300 families during pregnancy and in the postpartum time.
They live in Portland, ME with their wife and two children where they enjoy slow mornings in the garden, playing music, and being by the ocean.
You can find and follow Fiona on instagram @fullstorybirth.
WHY The Queer Birth Class?
I created The Queer Birth Class because I saw the gap in inclusivity within the childbirth education space. So many birthing resources assume the person giving birth is a woman with a husband. It is exhausting to *not* see yourself represented over and over again, especially while you’re trying to take in new information.
If you want to learn about timing contractions and dealing with labor sensations (and so much more) without heteronormativity or cisnormativity, The Queer Birth Class is the place for you!

Mostly videos, many PDFs, a few worksheets, with recommended “homework” between each module. Some of the videos are of me talking and demonstrating, while in others I am sharing my screen or drawing on a whiteboard.
The group coaching calls are casual and conversational. Bring your questions!
